Insight into the work of foil blocking in London…
Foil Blocking London client’s work is a mainstay of what we do. This month we have been super busy. New inquiries have increased dramatically following our recent advertising, which has included adverts in leading trade magazines, Google PPC and our special tw0-colour foil blocked cover of Print Solutions Magazine.
Trade foil blocking jobs are not the only sort of inquiry that we receive. There have been plenty of quote requests for foil blocked wedding invitations and special event invites.
We have produced basic foil blocking, foil embossing, embossing and micro-structure (aka Unifraxion) foiling. Below we look at a few of the projects we have worked on.
White Foil on Black Card
On this business card we foil blocked business cards using Kurz matt white foil. The board was 540gsm Ebony Black Colorplan from GF Smith. White on black is a classic stylish look which worked perfectly with the client’s clean design. This type of design is very popular when foil blocking London client’s work.
Debossed Tree Image on Cream Card
This block was originally created with foil blocking in mind, and we did produce some copies with foil. However, with the client in attendance we ran several hundred copies without foil and with a little extra pressure to produce this beautifully detailed debossed image for the front cover of a notepad.
Red Foil Blocking of a Geometric Pattern
This compliment slip was foil blocked on both sides on 200gsm Arcoprint from Fedrigoni. The front used silver foil for the company logo and ‘with compliments’ wording. However it was the reverse we were really excited about. We used a Foilco red foil. The geometric pattern combined with the foil gave the pattern an extra dimension. A nice eye-catching design.
Beveled Edge Foil Embossing
Foil embossing combines both these processes, with the added benefit of achieving perfect registration. The block used is known as a ‘fluted’ block. We tend to use brass for this type of block. The shape of the emboss can vary, but this one used has a ‘beveled edge’ applied to the font.
Wedding Stationery Foil Blocking London
We are pleased to have helped Rory and Sarah with the preparations for their big day. The art-deco style design creates a very striking design. The wedding invitation was a 350gsm uncoated sheet, with art-deco pattern and font foil blocked in our house gold foil. The foiling goes across the score/fold, and does not crack at all!
