Foil blocked wedding stationery looks amazing. By adding foil blocking to a wedding save the date card or wedding invite the tone is set for the entire wedding.
We provide a foil blocked wedding stationery service, using our traditional letterpress machines. Popular wedding stationery items include invitations, save the date cards, orders of service, thank you cards, name place cards and stationery wallets.
What is foil blocking?
Foil blocking is the application of foil to a material (such as paper, card or plastic) to a specific area using foil and a metal ‘block’. The block is a piece of metal (magnesium, copper or brass) which has been etched out with the required image or text. The foil is then applied to the material using a combination of heat and pressure. The pressure, and the action of the machine is why foil blocking is sometimes known as hot foil stamping.
What are the options?
There are a huge range of options when choosing your foil blocked wedding stationery. You can keep it very simple and use white card with metallic gold foil, or you could opt for a particular shade or texture of card and combine it with a coloured foil of your choice from the large range available. As well as the popular metallic foils, foils are available in gloss pigment, matt pigment, holographic and patterned variants.
What would we recommend?
It’s easy to get carried away with the massive range of choices you get when picking your dream foil blocked wedding stationery. Keeping it simple often produces the best results.
A classic white card with gloss black foil produces an elegant but striking appearance, and we can run the stationery with a little extra weight to give that ‘traditional letterpress’ indented text/image.
Gold foil also works really well, and can be teamed up with white card, or maybe a dark shade of blue or rich red.
